United Concordia Dental, Highmark Foundation sponsor free June dental clinic in Wilkes-Barre
May 29, 2025

CAMP HILL, Pa. (May 29, 2025) — The MOM-n-PA dental clinic will return to Wilkes-Barre’s Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza, June 6-7, where up to 2,000 underserved children and adults will receive free care. United Concordia Dental and the Highmark Foundation are major sponsors of the statewide event, which was last held at the arena in 2019.

Each year, MOM-n-PA brings together hundreds of volunteers to provide free exams, cleanings, fillings, root canals and other dental care to Pa. individuals and families in need. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and preregistration is not required.

According to the National Association of Dental Plans, 12% of Pennsylvanians do not have dental insurance, which makes them less likely to seek care. Since MOM-n-Pa’s inception in 2013, nearly 8,900 volunteers have provided over $10.2 million in free dental services to 14,969 patients who can’t afford them.

“Free dental clinics like MOM-n-PA fill a crucial public health need — making critical dental care possible for those who need it the most,” said Donna Hunter, vice president, Strategic Business Development, United Concordia Dental. “We’ve been proud to support MOM-n-PA’s mission since the very first clinic and its outstanding work to help Pennsylvanians get back on track to better oral and overall health.”

United Concordia and Highmark have sponsored MOM-n-PA dental clinics for the past 12 years. The companies’ employees also contribute to the mission by volunteering their time and skills to assist with administrative and logistical duties at the two-day clinic. "At Highmark, we believe that everyone should have access to quality healthcare,” said Kenya T. Boswell, president of the Highmark Foundation and senior vice president of community affairs for Highmark Health. “By sponsoring this free dental clinic, we're investing in the overall well-being of our community, ensuring that underserved individuals have the opportunity to receive essential dental care. This initiative aligns with our mission to improve the health and lives of the people we serve, and we are proud to support it."
