CAMP HILL, Pa. (March 20, 2023) — United Concordia Dental Chief Dental Officer Roosevelt Allen, DDS, MAGD, ABGD, will be joining a roundtable discussion at the Global Symposium 2023, where he will discuss the impact of education, integrated health records and bundled insurance plans on closing the barriers to coordinated dental and medical care.
Titled “Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) Initiative Collaborators: Integration Research and Demonstration Projects,” the roundtable discussion, which will be held in Boston on March 28, supports the symposium’s greater theme of “Integrating Health Systems: Policies and Programs that Work.”
“Education is such a crucial piece to integrating oral health into all clinical care,” said Dr. Allen. “I am pleased to be joining colleagues from across the global health care community to discuss successful initiatives that United Concordia are conducting, as well as learn about innovative ideas others are doing to make this approach to care more of a reality.”
Under Dr. Allen’s leadership, United Concordia is spearheading several initiatives to help drive forward medical-dental integration, a holistic approach where dentists work collaboratively with patient clinicians to improve patient health outcomes. This includes supporting an integrated medical and dental patient management system at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Dental Medicine in Pittsburgh, and a pilot program to educate AHN nurses about how the health of the mouth impacts the health of the body.
The symposium is a scientific collaboration between the HSDM Initiative to Integrate Oral Health and Medicine, Harvard Global Health Institute and Center for Integration Science in Global Health Equity.
