Camp Hill, PA. (Oct. 23, 2023) — United Concordia Companies, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a 5-year, more than $3 billion contract by the Department of Defense to administer the TRICARE Dental Program (TDP). The TDP provides dental benefits for Uniformed Service active duty family members and National Guard and Reserve members and their families.
The new contract takes effect on Dec. 1, 2024, and is the largest single-carrier dental plan. The TDP offers comprehensive coverage to nearly 1.8 million individuals currently enrolled in the TDP.
“TRICARE chose to award the TDP contract to United Concordia based on our employees’ ability to continually provide exceptional customer service, maintain a broad stable network of dentists for TDP beneficiaries, and consistently implement innovative and industry-leading benchmark processes,” said Dr. Ed Shellard, president and CEO.
United Concordia has nearly 25 years of experience administering TDP benefits. It also currently administers TRICARE’s Active Duty Dental Program (ADDP) for active duty service members, and has done so since program inception in 2009. Customer feedback has consistently demonstrated that both beneficiaries and the Government are satisfied with the company's network, services and program administration.
The TDP business will be supported by more than 200 United Concordia employees in Camp Hill and across the country.

The TDP, like civilian group dental plans, covers diagnostic, preventive and restorative services. It also includes comprehensive dental specialty care coverage. The Government pays 60% of the monthly premium for active duty family members and most categories of National Guard and Reserve sponsors. Beneficiaries may find more information on www.tricare.mil.
