CAMP HILL, Pa. (Dec. 10, 2024) — Food banks in nine states are receiving $120,000 — up to $10,000 each — from the United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund to help Americans struggling with food insecurity.
In 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that 18 million households across the nation were unable to acquire enough food to meet all family member needs due to insufficient money or other resources — an increase of 1 million households from 2022.
“Nutritious food is such an important foundational piece of oral and overall health, but many individuals — 1 out of 7— struggled to put food on the table last year,” said Ed Shellard, DMD, president and CEO, United Concordia Dental. “This annual donation is just one of the ways we are committed to increasing food access to help end hunger and build healthier communities.”
